I have been drawing and painting since I was a child. What I like to create in my graphite pencil drawings is an accurate representation of the subject almost photo-realism, with an emphasis on high contrast of values and detail. I put most of my detail into the subjects facial features which is the soul of the subject whether a person or animal.
In my paintings I work in oils which are usually very realistic, acrylics that range from murals to abstracts and watercolor. And I love to draw (a daily necessity) of course with graphite or colored pencil (I love it). And pretty much will try whatever I can get my hands on. In all of my work I love the use of many colors. I am currently working on my portfolio for children's book illustration. I'm using colored pencil similar to what I've done in my "Vet Pet Waiting Room" under my Greeting Card catagory.
I expect I will always be in a "learning" stage no matter how proficient I may become as an artist. There are just too many alternatives and not enough time to experiment with them all...
What inspires me is viewing a world created by a loving, creative and good God. He could have created a simple black and white world void of reflection, shadow, color, texture, movement, glow... But He didn't. I see God's amazing sense of humor in this world....He painted animals that are solid, striped, polka dot and a mixture, fins, fur, curly hair, sleek soft hair, coarse fur, skinless, toes, no toes, hoofs, all kinds of ears.....trees, flowers, leaves of all kinds. God's creativeness is endless. Just this alone shows His love for us. But the fullness of the love He shows us is in His Son Jesus the Savior. It is only by His substitutionary death on the cross, the blood of Jesus being poured out for us, that I am able to marvel at His creative works, His faithfulness and His incredible love for me. I hope you will consider His great love and compassion for you and accept the works Jesus did by taking all your sins upon Himself and dying that you may know life and His acceptance of you.
